Cyberspace Vacuum Cleaner Museum — Eureka
Eureka
Model 9
1923
This is not the first Eureka electric (which made its debut around 1912), but is a fairly early model. This machine, antiquated as it is, already incorporated attachments for above-the-floor cleaning: a flexible, cloth-covered hose and finely made, durable wands and attachments. (The front nozzle is detached and in its place the hose is coupled onto the motor, in front of the fan. Indeed, it is remarkable that many very early vacuum cleaners already embraced this innovation — Hoover, Royal, Eureka; all these machines already had “dusting tools” almost from the very start.)
