This machine looks nearly identical to the AE except the new two-tone color scheme: The body of the machine is gray; the front and back covers and cord winder are white; the wheels are gray and the trim is white.

The original AF model still has the flip-open cord winder with a white Belden cord. Plug end has a hollow rubber guard. Hose: Off-white with gray and blue stripes (3 gray stripes then 1 blue stripe evenly spaced about 1/4" apart).

Combination floor tool same as AE except for color scheme (gray/ white); metal plate on top of swivel connector now reads “THIS SIDE UP - ELECTROLUX” instead of “ELECTROLUX-TOP.” Also, a rubber bumper-guard around the rug tool was added.

New safety-latch feature added, whereby suction-end cover will not stay shut unless a bag is inserted into the suction chamber.

Turb-O-Tool introduced with late AE renamed "Turbotool" and finished in matching two-tone gray and white.
 

Model F - 1959

Later AF has rubber bumper strips on front-end; new-style cord winder has exhaust hole in center for attaching hose. Very last AF was the first model to offer the Power Nozzle as a new accessory. Power nozzle plugs into an outlet located in the side of the chrome strip that runs along the top of the machine. Power nozzle motor housing and plastic wand sheath made of plastic, in matching gray color with the AF motor body. Slightly changed combination floor tool had a narrower suction opening on the rug-side of the tool, to better concentrate the suction.

This was a lower-tier model introduced along with the late AF, to replace -- and offer improvements over -- the prior economy model, the Model S. [Note that it was not made as late as 1966, some Electrolux literature to the contrary!] It has the same color combination as the AF (gray/white). The suction- end cover looked exactly like the S except the metal hinges are covered with rubber; and the cover comes off rather than hinging open.

This machine had a halo for cord storage and also could use the later-style cord winder with the blower hole in the middle. It was also equipped for use with an optional power nozzle. Power nozzle plug went into an outlet on the side of the front wheel assembly. R hose slightly different from AF hose -- pairs of blue/gray stripes about 1/4" apart, and then those pairs spaced about 1" apart.

The G still retained the basic look of the AE and AF except it was more streamlined in the rear with an integrated cord winder rather than being stuck on and looking like an afterthought.

The first G also featured a fun 1960s, very Jetsons-like color scheme of two-toned turquoise. Also had a power nozzle with its own wand with a white plastic sheath and white housing with turquoise bumper that completely encircled the motor unit.

The early G, like the AF and R, had one long cord for the power nozzle that went from the power nozzle wand, clipped onto the hose, and plugged into the machine. There was no way to disconnect the power nozzle at the handle. You had to unclip it from the hose and remove the whole thing.

The other way to identify the earliest G is that the power nozzle plug went into the lower part of the front cover, just below the front-cover hinge. Also, the front outer wheels were right at the front of the machine, just behind the front cover.
 

Model G - 1962

A few slight but important modifications: Power nozzle cord can now be disconnected at hose handle end so you don’t have to completely remove the cord from the hose when you disconnect the power nozzle.

P/N cord now attaches to hose with more secure rubber straps instead of plastic clips that tended to slip off. Also, the power nozzle outlet was moved to front-side of machine and front wheels moved back about two inches to accommodate the side-mounted power nozzle outlet.

Hospital G - 1964

The first “Hospital” model. Same machine as the turquoise G but it is white with white and turquoise trim and has a special, large filter that fits on the blower end of the machine to filter the exhaust air and to make the motor have a softer sound. (Since the G already is perhaps the softest-sounding vacuum cleaner you will ever come across, the Hospital G is so soft that when it runs, the only sound you hear is air rushing through the floor nozzle.)
 

Model G - 1968

The last G was bronze in color with white trim. Hose: Off-white with pairs of gold stripes spaced about an inch apart.
